I get asked this question a lot actually. It’s hard to tell exactly what you need, how does this Nicotine Fluid for the E-NI relate to a real cigarette? How do you know if you are getting too much, or at least enough to make it the equivalent to smoking so that you can quit easily.
So I’ve been hitting the internet and doing research trying to find the answer. I wanted to know if I was using more or less nicotine since I quit smoking, compared to when I was puffing on those old nasty analog cigarettes.
So I found some references online to how much nicotine is in a cigarette. Evidently, each cigarette in that grubby little pack of soon to be nasty ashes and filth, is approximately 12 mg of nicotine. But you don’t get that much nicotine off of a cigarette. By the time it burns and you loose some to second hand smoke and you inhale it you actually only get about 1.2 to 1.8 mg of nicotine off of each cigarette.
On a side note, this is exactly why nicotine gum and commit lozenges always made me sick. I don’t think you can buy the lozenges with less than 2 mg of nicotine, and the gum is sold with as high as 4 mg of nicotine. I guess they have to provide extra kick to counteract the lost feeling of smoking. At least E-NI’s don’t have the problem I still feel like I’m smoking, even though I’m just “vaping”.
So anyway back to my calculations. You only get less than 1/6th of the nicotine that a cigarette contains, no wonder this nicotine fluid is so cheap. But how does this equate to the Nicotine Fluid and the E-NI?
Personally I found that the 24 mg Nicotine Fluid is what is most effective for me with my Titan E-NI. Before even doing any of these calculations, I tested a few different levels, this is the strength that gave me enough nicotine in my vapor for me to quit smoking without withdrawal. But that still doesn’t tell me how much I’m getting from this electronic cigarette if you will.
How much nicotine is in each drop? How much am I inhaling each day compared to what I used to before I quit smoking?
I do know about how much I use each day. Each day I use about 1 ml of fluid. I know this because 1 ml of fluid is approximately 20 drops, and since I always “top off” my cartridges so that I get good draws off the inhaler I know I’m using about 20 drops a day, usually less sometimes right at it or a little more.
Looking into the specifics on the Nicotine Fluid I know that 24 mg strength nicotine Fluid means that it has 24 mg of Nicotine per 1 ml, and I know that there are 1,000 mg per 1 ml. If I vape or inhale approximately 20 drops a day, and that I used to smoke 20 cigarettes a day I know know that I’m at about the exact same level or less than I used to be. 24mg divided by 20 drops equals 1.2 mg of nicotine per drop, which is on the low end of what you can expect to get from the average cigarette.
So there you have it. If you are vaping 24 mg strength nicotine, then one drop is equivalent to one cigarette maybe a little less. Which is great news to me, now I know I’m at the same level as before, and I know that if I cut back to 18 mg Nicotine Fluid not only will I save more money with my Platinum Ice Mixing Kit, but I’ll have cut back my nicotine intake by 25%.
If you have any questions I’d love to hear them.
